- חֲרוּבִיתf. (חֲרוּב I) carob-tree. Num. R. s. 9 (p. 232b> ed. Amst.); Midr. Sam. ch. 13 כח׳ גדולה היה Absalom was as tall as a large carob-tree; ib. ch. 27; Y.SotI, 17b top (not … בות). Pesik. R. s. 4 פערה הח׳וכ׳ the carob tree opened itself and swallowed him (Isaiah).
